Wait, Francis Coppola made this? Jacques is a film about a man with a rare aging disorder, or a boy with a rare mental disorder, I can’t remember which. Anyway, the other day I was buying some smokes at a shop and I heard on the radio that Robin Williams is going on a comedy tour called “Weapons of Self-Destruction.”  It just seem kind of bland compare to this thing over here:

He probably doesn’t have it.

Jacquob’s Syndrome is a rare chromosomal genetic syndrome where the male person has an extra Y male chromosome, becoming XYY instead of normal XY (male) or XX (female). The person is male and may be mostly normal, or may suffer from minor features from excess male hormones, such as excess acne, being very tall, and in some cases behavioral complaints such as aggression.

Rose: “I can’t feel my body.”
Jacques: “Winning that ticket, Rose, was the best thing that ever happened to me… it brought me to you. And I’m thankful for that, Rose. I’m thankful. You must do me this honor, Rose. Promise me you’ll survive. That you won’t give up, no matter what happens, no matter how hopeless. Promise me now, Rose, and never let go of that promise.”
Rose: “I promise.”
Jacques: “Never let go.”
Rose: “I’ll never let go. I’ll never let go, Jacques.”

Jacques Shephard is a survivor in the crash of Oceanic 815 in ABC’s sci-fi series Lost. He has an impulse to lead and help people, perhaps explained by his career as a surgeon and the fact that he came from a privileged background. Personally, I believe that the real Jacques died when he got sucked into the propeller of the plane (3 minutes into the pilot episode), and the man we’ve been following in the show for the past 4 seasons is a clone created from a side effect of time traveling. Since two identical beings cannot exist in the same place and time, one of them must die in order to prevent catastrophe. So all the people on the island were clones, most of their doubles died when the plane broke off in mid air. (The crash is caused by the plane traveling through a wormhole, duh) Also, the smoke monster is actually Al Gore, killing people is his way of trying to warn the world of the dangers of carbon exhaust. The hatch represents Gitmo, Ben represents illegal immigrants, Christian Shephard represents white Democrats, and Locke represents the entire Republican party.

My friend Karen wrote in and reminded us of the game of Jacques, she wrote:

“My favorite childhood game involving picking up small pieces of barbed metal in rhythmic sequence – Jacques!”

I’ve never played this game as a child, but I did buy some bunny jacques at Walgreens just because they’re cute.

Now I’m usually an east coast rap guy, but Tupac is a great lyricist and “Me Against the World” is one of my favorite hip-hop song ever.

The boxer, and later comedian, was portrayed by Robert DeNiro in the film Raging Bull. My personal favorite moment in the film is not the boxing sequence, but the character’s monologue in the end, which is clumsy, contrived, but oddly endearing. When is Raging Bull 2 coming out? ‘Roid Rage? Red Bull? Raging Bull v.s. 1992 Chicago Bulls?
